Situated in Palam, 15 km south-west of the New Delhi Railway Station and 16 km from New Delhi city centre, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) serves as the international aviation hub of the Indian capital of New Delhi as well as the rest of northern India. The airport is very well connected to the NDLS railway station via the Orange Metro Line (i.e. the Delhi Airport Express Line). Palam Airport was built during World War II and served as an Air Force Station for the Indian Air Force after the British left India until 1962, when civilian operations were moved to Palam Airport and it was renamed to IGIA. If you happen to land at IGIA and wish to enjoy your time leisurely in the 'city of hearts', you can choose to leave your bags at our luggage counters.
